It’s no secret that I have been on a straight dress binge this summer, seeing as I think I’ve purchased and posted more than ever before in my lifetime. There’s just something about the way that I hit snooze so many times after my initial alarm most mornings that makes choosing an outfit and getting dressed quickly, well, essential. Running into my closet on those days, I usually don’t even spare my jean shelf a glance because what I’m looking for is a one hit outfit wonder that takes little brain power. Not to mention I would like to be absolutely comfortable and also feel put together all the day long, you feel? Topshop does.
Topshop has always been a go-to for me when it comes to building a good dress arsenal because they always have SO many options and I can usually skirt out with 2 or 3 new dresses and not feel like I’ve just drained my checking account. I wanted to highlight two of my faves as of late in the hopes that you find a few new faves of your own.
Now this first dress actually happens to feature two things I used to steer clear of; a shirtdress silhouette and yep, I’m sure you’ve noticed it- cheetah print. Hear me out. It’s not that I’ve ever had a stiff aversion to cheetah print. It’s just that it and I have just had a sort of falling out since the break up of The Cheetah Girls. However, I’ve seen animal prints coming back in stride recently and I decided there was no harm in trying it out again. Well, needless to say, thanks to this dress you’ll probably be seeing a lot more of it in my wardrobe (read: on my Instagram feed) in the coming season. I ADORE this print and it’s neutrality that makes it so easy to style. As far as shirtdresses go, I’ve always felt that they were a little too “office” for me. Turn’s out, I just hadn’t found the right one. The style of this dress along with the fun print have me feeling put together and also on trend. I paired it with a bootie, layered necklace, and quilted bag but this would also be perfect for everyday with a cool sneaker, amiright? Shop this look here.
Moving on, the second little number I wanted to chat about is my new favorite slip dress in my closet (and trust me y’all, that arsenal is deep). I find myself grabbing for slip dresses more and more for date nights, concerts, and just general nights out on the weekends. The draping neckline and the beaded hem give this one a touch of fancy that I adore, not to mention the neutral colorway is right up my alley, as you all know by now. Because I love ya, you can shop this look here.
