First of all- I want to thank everyone that I met yesterday at the in store event at Lenox Square! If any of you are reading this, I had so much fun chatting with everyone and helping you guys find your new favorite denim! And of course thank you to the wonderful people at Express for having me! With fall around the corner (fingers crossed- sooner rather than later) Express has been releasing a ton of new denim and let me tell you guys, it’s good. It’s SO good.
Now that clothing is a huge part of my full time job, sometimes I forget how impactful a well-fitting clothing piece, especially jeans, can be. Sounds backwards doesn’t it? Well, seeing as I’m constantly trying on clothes and putting together outfits, every once in awhile I get numb to why I loved this industry in the first place, as we all do at some point in our careers I believe. Yesterday was a reminder of just how good you can feel about yourself when you have an outfit you feel confident in and seeing the attendees at the event light up over a good pair of jeans brought me back to the most beautiful side of fashion. Call me superficial if you want but I’m all for self-love and confidence, aren’t you?
As far as my own personal style goes, you guys know I basically live and breathe two different styles of denim; boyfriend and black skinny ankle. I LOVE both of the pairs I’ve got recently from Express (pictured here). The beautiful thing about these boyfriends is that they fit well in the waist and booty region while maintaining their slouchy shape. CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH CHORUS FOR THAT?! The majority of boyfriend jeans tend to fit me either tighter than I’d like or so big I’m swimming in them. These are my new holy grail for casual days. I cannot wait to wear them with a good blazer in the fall.

As for these black skinnies, another thing I love in denim is a HIGH high rise. Seriously, the higher the better. I want my belt loops to be close enough to my bra that they are well acquainted with one another. Being only 5’4″ but mostly legs, I’m never EVER trying to break up my shape with a low rise jean. The front rise on this pair fits my criteria dead on, not to mention the distressed hem is right up my alley. I have been wearing these more than the law should allow lately and I’m not stopping anytime soon.
Express has SO many good denim options on their site right now! Yesterday, the denim perfect styles were a hit with pretty much everyone, especially the unique styles like this one with the track stripe. Another style I love, especially for the coming season, is this stretchy high-waisted flare. How cute would these be with a cozy knit??
