There’s not much better in my opinion that an outfit that you feel great in BUT are extremely comfortable in. And while I mean “comfortable” as in confident, I also mean “comfortable” as in, quite literally, the working definition of the word. According to my trusty sidekick, Google, that is providing physical ease and relaxation. I’m talking no walking like a baby giraffe in heels, no too-tight, high-waisted pants whose button is nearly inside your stomach organ, and no near nip-slips. Yes, it exists.
I would like to introduce, entering from stage left, my favorite trend of the last five years; athleisure. Or, as my friends at Hush Homewear have quite aptly named it; grown up sportswear.
I think the point where most people get uncomfortable with this trend is the idea that they don’t want to look sloppy (who would?). BUT, I think it is very possible to mix these sport-inspired pieces into outfits and look 100% polished. What I’m saying is, it’s 2018. You can very nearly put on a sharp blazer with a pair of sleek joggers and nice shoes and wear it to the office. Business on top, party on the bottom. Yes, I’m as serious as a heart attack.
Hush is one of those brands that has this style nailed down firm. They always have incredible basics that can be worn again and again in a ton different ways. This turtleneck sweater (here is one similar) has gained me more Instagram questions than nearly anything else in my wardrobe, and paired with a cozy jacket (yes, it’s cold-is in the South too), and fun sneakers, it’s one of the most comfortable, socially-acceptable looks in my closet. On top of that, if you’re ever feeling like wearing an oversized sweatshirt dress but are unsure how to dress it up, try some slouchy boots like this pair! It immediately brings the outfit together. Swap them for the sneakers after hours. I won’t tell.
Which look is your favorite? Let me know in the comments or on my Instagram!
Until tomorrow (because that’s when my next post is going up- shameless plug). See you then!
xx
