People have been so freaking nice lately. I have always advocated that there are far more genuinely good people in this world than we as humans care to admit, and last week, during one blog shoot, my faith in this statement was restored. As a blogger, I am more than familiar with rude comments from passerby’s when we are shooting on a busy street and negative feedback from acquaintances that think bloggers only blog to “post pretty pictures”. After hearing all of the rude comments for an extended period of time, you begin to block them out and remind yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing. However, lately the norm has been reversed. I have had so many nice people stop me on campus lately to tell me that they enjoy my content on both my site and my social media and I cannot even describe how much of a day-maker that is for me. If you were one of those nice students that has stopped me lately, thank you. Thank you eternally. If you are reading this and happen to see me on campus, stop and say hi. I love meeting you guys and it’s my favorite part of every day, seriously.
Outside of the fact that I have the best followers in the world- a fact that I already knew before an abundance of you stopped to talk to me recently- something more peculiar happened this week. My friend Demi and I decided one week-day last week that we were going to have a super speed shoot in between classes because when you both have on outfits that are fire, you make it work no matter how busy you are (#bloggercode). Turns out we only needed approximately 8 minutes to get a full shoot in, which is awesome, but that is not the coolest part. We were forced to shoot in the middle of campus due to our lack of free time, which is something we normally avoid at all costs. Shooting on campus normally comes with a lot of what the hell are you doing stares and “get over yourself” comments. However, to our surprise, over the course of our shoot, we had AWESOME encounters with passing strangers. From two very sweet girls stopping to talk to us about blogging to nice compliments regarding our outfits/photos, we couldn’t have left feeling more supported. Exhibit A: candid photo of my reaction to one stranger’s kind words shared in passing below.
Yeah, people rock.
Anyhow, I felt the need to share that with you guys as both a thank you and motivation to lift other people up. You have no idea how much it could mean to them.
Now, let’s talk about another amazing thing that is going on recently–it’s officially FALL. I know I talk about this season more than the law should allow, but it will forever and always be my favorite time of year as far as fashion goes. I have started refilling my closet with some new fall staples and I am just giddy about it. This striped basically-a-blanket-with-armholes cardigan is one of my favorite things that I have accumulated so far and I love everything about it. I will be sure to have it linked below so that you can grab one for yourself before it’s gone. I paired mine with my usual go-to pallet of black jeans and a white tank. And last but most definitely not least, I finally pulled out my booties again and I could not be more stoked about it.
Random side note; Trying to build a successful blog and also simultaneously not fail out of college is hard. Like, really hard. I apologize for falling off the social map recently. If that happens again, just assume I’m drowning in group project meetings and exams because that is more than likely exactly what is happening. Anyhow, I will not bore you with my complaining. Instead, I will leave you with more photos and links to shop because I know that’s what you guys are really here for. xo
