Like a pubescent teenager, I have done a complete 180 shift of preference in the way I like my tee shirts to fit. And like my own past pubescent teenage self, I have more recently opted for the skin tight, cap sleeve fit over my looser options. I honestly never thought I would hear myself saying this, since I inwardly cringe every single time I see a photo of my seventh grade self in a count-your-ribs-tight shirt with a Hollister logo across the front. BUT, put those pics down, flip it, and reverse it- the tight tee is BACK and I’m obsessed.
The change in my opinion of these tops can probably be attributed to the fact that we are no longer channeling Jamie Lynn Spears circa Zoey 101 but more so a young Jen Aniston. Y’all, this is something I can get behind. I mean who doesn’t want to be her, really? If I had any, ehem- pardon me gentlemen, lady balls at all I would probably even be sporting mine braless like 90’s Jen definitely would have.
Baby steps, everyone.
I actually have come to realize the fit of these is actually quite flattering, especially now that I am no longer just graduating out of a training bra. I am really loving this retro blue striped one from GG Boutique and I have loved paring it with a pair of black, high-waisted skinnies. The key here is the high-waisted part. Because really why did we wear tight shirts with the low rise buttcrack jeans?? Anyhow, it’s such an easy, simple look to pull off and I think that’s what I love about it. Like my signature morning latte, I think this tee is going to be going everywhere with me in the next year or two.
And don’t worry, I did buy a new pair of black, high-waisted skinnies that DONT have busted knee holes the size of my face. Yay for that.
